Welcome from the Programme Director
Welcome to the MSc in Primary Dental Care, I hope you enjoy our brief introduction to the programme.

A few years ago we became aware that there is a shortage of structured university education in clinical dentistry for dentists who work in a primary care setting. We developed a part-time degree programme that allowed practitioners to access Masters level education without having to give up too much of their time away from the practice. This was successfully delivered for six years. Now the University of Edinburgh has invested significant resource in order to help us to develop the course further so that we can deliver the degree online. You will still be given the opportunity to meet your fellow postgraduate students and your tutors face to face, but this will happen once per year in a block of clinical skills coaching days.

The rest of the programme will be delivered by accessing educational material, discussion boards and tutorials through our innovative virtual learning environment. This will also allow us to offer this opportunity to primary care clinicians all over the world and give you the opportunity to interact with dentists from many different countries and cultures. This is a very exciting prospect and we hope you will share our enthusiasm.
